Today's book, "the dot" by Peter H. Reynolds, was a big hit. We made dot paintings to go with the book. Also, we finished up our dreamcatchers from last week and started a new project to finish up next week, hearts on strings. Check out their spectacular work.
Today we started PreSchool ART! at the West Chester CCAA. We read "Fiona loves the night" by Patricia MacLachlan and Emily MacLachlan Charest ; illustrated by Amanda Shepherd and sang the "Lion Hunt." In the story it talks about an owl, so we did 2 owl projects and started a dream project to finish up next week. The first owl project was an owl mask, the second we learned how to draw an owl and then we etched our drawing on foam and printed them! The kids loved the printmaking because they got to use the roller and could make more than one print:) Check out their cute owls!
Wednesday's Mommy and Me class at Exton CCAA was all about getting ready for spring! We read "Spring things" by Bob Raczka ; illustrated by Judy Stead. Our craft was a shamrock. To make the shamrock we recycled a tp roll and magazine pages. First we cut the tp roll into 4 equal rings. 3 of the rings we covered totally with magazine cuttings that were mostly green with glue. The last ring we mushed and wrapped the magazine cuttings totally around it for the stem so it looked like a rectangle. After we had all the tp rings covered, we shaped them into hearts and a stem finally hot gluing them together to look like our photo. Lots of fun! Check out the example and make one too.
