Some of our Mommy and Me friends have started Kindergarten this week or will start Tuesday, so we made one of their favorite parts of school... School Buses!!! We read two books about school buses and sang the wheels on the bus. Our craft was to paint a bus shaped piece of newspaper yellow, and glue on construction paper windows and wheels. Then we stamped on the red stop sign, white word "stop" and white wheel centers. And to complete our look we pasted it all on a piece of purple paper (yellow's opposite on the color wheel) and use the blow dryer to take it home nice and dry:) They turned out fantastic!!

Lobster Prints Mommy and Me Class
Today we sang the "Lion Hunt" song and read a book, "Never Take a Shark to the Dentist: (and Other Things Not to Do)" by Judi Barrett. In the book we learned to not hold hands with lobsters. Great funny book that the little ones will love! After our story we made our lobster prints using watercolors, acrylics, and stamps (our own hands for claws, foam cut out for the body, romaine lettuce end for tail, and tp roll for background underwater flowers for texture). Try it at home and check out our beautiful lobsters!

Tweens and Teens Emotional Self Portrait Class
19 tween and teen campers from Paradise Farms Camp came to do a special class with me - Emotional Self Portraits! We talked about famous artist portraits such as Romare Bearden and Andy Warhol, how emotions look, color choices that evoke certain emotion, how to draw the human head — it's proportions/formulas and finally we went over materials we could use for our own portraits. We used pencils, oil pastel, acrylic paint, watercolor, cut up magazines, yarn, papers and more. Check out how great they did in such a short time of 2 hours. Pretty amazing stuff:)
