Middle School Art LTS Adventures

I've had the pleasure of teaching young men and women at a local middle school since February this year. Here are some of the projects we created.

Warhol's Ads to Art - One of my favorite projects to do with young people. This group was the 8th grade Traditional Art Class. Instructions were to take a grocery item and make it into art while rotating, repeating and resizing. We also worked some color theory into the project as well!

Let's Play Clay!

Our class had four wonderfully talented young ladies ranging in age from Kindergarten to Fourth Grade. We definitely played with clay and had lots of fun for this 9-week course at Chester County Art Association! Students explored all kinds of handbuilding techniques. Check out their works below:)

Around the World Summer Camp at CCAA

We finished the last week of summer art camp! This week we went "Around the World" and visited Egypt, Africa, Japan, Peru and Mexico. The kids used clay, printmaking, drawing, painting, weaving and more. So much fun we even had a little dance party break before our ARTshow.

Summer Art CCAA Camp - Famous Artists!

Today concluded my first week of Art Camp at CCAA! I had a great group of kids 6-10 years old who explored some famous artist and tried to replicate their ideas using a variety of mediums. Check out all their very creative and hard work. I'm so proud of each of them:)

Campers made their own painted paper and then cut and pasted just like Eric Carle!
We used the printing press to make these great monoprints

Wax relief circles with watercolor. Students measured out 3 in. x 3 in. squares.

Photomontages made from magazine cuttings, painted paper and crayon.

Hearts made from monoprint, yarn and painted paper
Wire birds and fish made from beads and wire

Canvas painted for their age

Wet on wet watercolor technique used with cut paper

Air dry clay with paint

Food packaging rearranged and changed up in marker and crayon
